That Isn't Just a Serial Number? Part 1

That big, long number on the side of a tire probably looks meaningless, but each number is very specific. If the number in question were “P215/65R 15 95H,” for example, here is what the first section signifies:
· P – type of tire. In this case, “P” stands for “passenger car.” Other types are “LT” (light truck), “ST” (special trailer), and “T” (temporary).
· 215 – width of the tire (in millimeters)
